The organisers of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon has said unlike the 2021 race that was restricted to only elite athletes due to COVID-19, the 2022 edition will be open for all interested runners to participate.
They also said the registration process for the 2022 edition will commence on Monday, November 1, 2021.
Participants interested in the February 12, 2022 race have been urged to either register online or pick a hard copy form at the Marathon Office inside the Teslim Balogun Stadium or some selected Access Bank branches.
Already seen as the biggest one-day event on the continent, the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon is set to become the first marathon in Nigeria to organize the 7th edition.
The Access Bank Lagos City Marathon is also the first race to win a World Athletics Bronze Label in Africa after two editions and the first in the world to win the prestigious Silver Label after four editions.
The Head of Communication and Media for the race, Olukoya Thomas said, “With the return of the 10km fun run, we should be having close to 80,000 to 100,000 participants at the seventh edition of our yearly race”.
Recall that Kenya’s Emmanuel Naibei won the April 10, 2021 sixth edition of the marathon in Lagos.
