The Benue State government yesterday began training on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for its teeming youths.
Governor Samuel Ortom who declared the 5-day capacity building workshop opened, said that the idea was to channel the energy of the youths into positive ventures.
“It is rather worrisome that young people use their energy negatively on social media as they promote abusive and hate speeches. This training is meant for them to engage their energies positively,” he said.
The governor therefore urged participants to explore the potentials in the field of ICT to build a future for themselves, adding that in today’s emerging world, those who have no knowledge of ICT had no space.
Earlier, the President of Young Innovators Nigeria, Andrew Abu, said his organisation would support the ICT workshop to transform Benue into a digital technology clime.
