OSCOHTECH alumni plead with Pharmacists Council over sandwich program

The Pharmacy Technician Alumni Association of Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese -Ijebu has pleaded with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) over the proposed one-year sandwich program for the school’s holders of pharmacy technician certificates.
In a statement made available to Eko Trust, signed by the Chairman and Acting Secretary of the association, Ibrahim Otuyiga and Lukman Ishola respectively, the association urged the PCN to consider Ogun State College of Health Technology (OSCOHTECH) as one of their retraining centres.
“It is a big challenge when our alma mata was not among the schools shortlisted as retraining centres. It is on this note that we want to plead that 70 per cent of these graduates are family men and women based in Ogun State, whereas most of us are still unemployed and may not be able to financially cope with weekly travels.
“The council should please consider OSCOHTECH as one of the retraining centres, in as much we have met the council’s requirement.
 “According to the reports of the accreditation team, OSCOHTECH now has the most standard and well equipped laboratory in Nigeria Colleges of Health,” the association stated.
The association also implored the PCN to reduce the costs of forms and tuition fee of the proposed sandwich program.
“The form fee and proposed tuition fee (N200,000) should be reduced to a considerable amount for both the unemployed and the proletariat,” it said, while beseeching the PCN to make the duration of the sandwich program a semester (four to six months), since the programme is in preparation of the council examination for certification.
