Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State yesterday urged the organised labour to push for a review of the nation’s privatisation of the power sector by the Goodluck Jonathan administration.
He expressed regret that the action of the Peoples Democratic Party leadership to privatise the power sector which drew a swarm of protests across the nation over the introduction of fixed charges was a great disservice to Nigerians.
Oshiomhole who spoke yesterday at a rally against corruption organised by the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Benin City, said President Muhammadu Buhari’s leadership posture had given impetus to the fight against corruption.
“In fighting against corruption, trade unions, civil society organizations and all those who were victims in the sharing of state assets must demand a review and a revocation of all of these infrastructure that did not meet the primary rules of transparency and accountability. We cannot ask the sleeping dog to lie because the dog is not sleeping. The dog is barking. If we do not, this crisis will continue,” he said.
He said Edo,  Delta,  Ekiti and Ondo States were worst hit in the power sector deal which he said amounted to alleged abuse of office by the proprietors in the power sector chain.
