Super Eagles stars Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade are the leading lights among nominees for the 12th edition of the Nigeria Pitch Awards, as organizers officially unveiled the list in Abuja.
Osimhen of Galatasaray S.K., Lookman of Atalanta B.C., and Bassey of Fulham F.C. dominate several key categories, underlining their outstanding performances for club and country over the past year.
The nominations were announced at a media gathering held at the Johnwood Hotel, attended by award partners, members of the College of Voters, and journalists.
Speaking at the event, President of the Nigeria Pitch Awards, Dr. Shina Philips, reaffirmed confidence in the integrity of the awards, noting that SIAO Partners has continued to oversee the collation and auditing of votes since 2014.
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Director of Media and Communications, Dr. Ademola Olajire, reiterated the Federation’s support for the Nigeria Pitch Awards, describing the process as transparent and credible.
In the highly anticipated King of the Pitch category, defending winner Ademola Lookman will contend with Victor Osimhen and Calvin Bassey. The Queen of the Pitch Award features a strong trio of Chiamaka Nnadozie, Esther Okoronkwo, and Rasheedat Ajibade.
Other keenly contested categories include Defender of the Year, where emerging talent Benjamin Frederick will battle Bassey and Ola Aina, while the Midfielder of the Year award pits Alex Iwobi, Frank Onyeka, Raphael Onyedika, and Wilfred Ndidi against one another.
Osimhen and Lookman also return as nominees for the Rashidi Yekini Award for Best Striker, alongside Anas Yusuf of Nasarawa United.
Winners across all categories will be unveiled at the 12th Nigeria Pitch Awards ceremony, a celebration of excellence in Nigerian football.
