Osinbajo, Atiku to be honoured at Justice Kayode Eso book launch

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo and a former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, are among dignitaries to be honoured at a book launch written the late Supreme Court judge, Justice Kayode Eso.

The 850 pages book titled ‘Justice Kayode Eso: A Beacon of Judicial Activism’, will be presented today (February 28) in Lagos.

It is a compendium on some selected judgments of the late justice of the Supreme Court.

At a press briefing in Lagos, the organisers said the acting president will be honoured with an award of excellence for his innovative reforms of the judiciary and justice system in Lagos when he held forth as the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice during the tenure of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

One of the authors of the book, Arigbabuwo Lateef, a legal practitioner, said it is divided into three parts made up of his biography and some selected landmark judgments he delivered while at the Supreme Court.

According to him, academics and jurists, including Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee against Corruption, Prof. Akin Oyebode, and Prof. Olusegun also made their input in the compendium.

He said the late justice, in spite of threat to his life during the military era, delivered some landmark judgment which did not favour the military government at that time.

Lateef added that business mogul and the president of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, will be the chief launcher while Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State will be the special guest of honour.

Also expected at the book presentation is the Oni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwunsi.
