A war of words has erupted between the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the state government over alleged mismanagement of about N1 trillion allegedly received by the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke from November 2022 to September 2025.
In a statement signed by its chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, the APC accused Adeleke of running what it described as a “fascist regime” where “a few unproductive but privileged individuals feed fat on the huge resources of the state.”
The party alleged that the governor had received nearly N1trn in revenues within three years with little to show for it in infrastructure, education or welfare.
According to the opposition party, the state got a tranche of N25bn between November and December 2022, N182bn in 2023, N333bn in 2024, and N310bn between January and September 2025.
It said Adeleke’s administration received as much as N124bn between July and September this year alone, but had only disbursed 26 per cent of its 2025 revenue on capital projects.
Responding, Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to Governor Adeleke, dismissed the APC’s claims as fake news, describing them as “a devilish fabrication and mischievous propaganda” from a party “set for another defeat in 2026.”
Rasheed maintained that the total allocation received by the state since 2022 was far less than N1trn, insisting that the Adeleke administration had managed public funds prudently and transparently.
He listed what he called key achievements of the government, including the construction of over 322 kilometers of roads, renovation of 200 health centres and 100 schools, dualisation projects in major towns, rehabilitation of waterworks, and payment of half-salary arrears and pension debts inherited from the previous APC government.
The governor’s spokesperson also said Adeleke had not borrowed any money since taking office and had reduced the state’s debt stock by 40 percent, citing data from the Federal Debt Management Office.
While the APC urged Adeleke to account for the alleged ₦1trn revenue, the government maintained that its expenditure was visible across all sectors and that the opposition’s claims were politically motivated.
