The crisis rocking the Osun State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has worsened as some political bigwigs in the state have dumped Governor Adegboyega Oyetola’s camp for a former governor and current Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola’s camp.

Aregbesola and Oyetola are at daggers-drawn over the control of the party’s structure in the state.

The three top stalwarts of the party in the state who have pitched tent with the minister are the immediate past Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Adeoti Moshood; immediate past Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Dr Najeemdeen Salaam and a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Lasun Yusuf.

They were aspirants in the last governorship election in the state and contested the same ticket with Governor Oyetola who was then the Chief of Staff to Aregbesola.

Speaking yesterday at the Aregbesola’s Campaign Office in Osogbo, the state capital, Adeoti, who was flanked by Salaam and Yusuf, told members of the Osun Progressive Caucus of the APC who are Aregbesola’s loyalists to remain committed.

The House of Representatives ex-Deputy Speaker, Lasun Yusuf, said he decided to join hands with other leaders in ‘Top Caucus’ because of his relationship with Aregbesola and his love for the progressives.

Meanwhile, members of the APC in Iwo Federal Constituency, comprising Iwo, Ayedire and Ola Oluwa local government areas yesterday reaffirmed their commitment and support to the re-election of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for a second term.

They made the declaration at a rally, held at Oluwo Palace Square, Iwo.

The rally had in attendance thousands of supporters of Governor Oyetola and the ruling APC in the constituency.

Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to Governor Oyetola on Political Matters, Alh. Gbadebo Badru, said the most important thing is to ensure that Oyetola is re-elected.

“We have seen several things that Oyetola has done for us. I want to assure you that everything you have been told Oyetola will still do, he will do.

“They have started again. They want to suffer us in Iwoland as they did in 2018. We won’t allow it to happen anymore.

“Alhaji Moshood Adeoti was Secretary to the State Government for eight years, Iwo-Osogbo road was completely abandoned. He was also the Chairman, Tenders Board for eight years, overseeing all government contracts, he couldn’t do anything about our road,” he said.
