Gov. Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would win majority seats at the state House of Assembly.
Oyetola said this on Saturday while casting his vote in company with his wife, Kafayat, at Olopo Ward 001, Unit 002 in Iragbiji, Boripe Local Government Area of the state.
The governor said that with the performance of APC in the state, the party was confident of victory.
Oyetola commended the electorate for the peaceful conduct during the election, adding that the information made available to him shows that the election was generally peaceful.
The governor also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agencies for ensuring a peaceful atmosphere.
Meanwhile, Timothy Owoeye, the APC candidate for Ilesa West in Osun, has expressed confidence in winning the election.
He commended INEC for the timely arrival of voting materials at the various polling units in the town.
Owoeye, who is the Leader of Government Business at the assembly, however, decried the low turnout of voters at polling centres.
He attributed the low turnout to the fact that there was no governorship election in the state.
Owoeye also denied allegations of violence in the area, saying that the election was generally peaceful.
Also speaking, Mr Adewumi Adeyemi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Obokun State Constituency, said he was optimistic of winning the election.
Adeyemi, while speaking with newsmen at his Ward 1, Unit 3 polling unit at St Peters Primary School in Ibokun, decried the low turn out of voters.
He commended INEC for the timely arrival of voting materials at the polling units and also for the smooth operation of the card reader machine.(NAN)
