As Osun State marks its 33rd anniversary, Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke has reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises.
In a statement released through his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor highlighted ongoing efforts to implement his administration’s policy agenda, focusing on key areas such as the power sector, digital economy, and climate change.
Rasheed noted that Governor Adeleke has taken significant steps to advance the state’s development. These include the introduction of the Osun State Electricity Market Policy and Bill, which addresses power generation and distribution following the constitutional devolution of these powers.
“The draft legislation and policy framework for the power sector are nearing submission to the State House of Assembly for consideration and passage,” Rasheed said. “The bill, which has undergone review by the state Ministry of Justice, aims to establish a state electricity regulatory agency to oversee activities currently managed by the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). This agency will license power producers, regulate distribution companies like Ibadan Disco, and manage off-grid and mini-grid power generation.”

On climate change, Osun is finalising a comprehensive climate change agenda with the assistance of a world-class consultant. This initiative aims to position Osun as a leader among subnational entities in Africa regarding climate action.
