Other traditional rulers who also made pledges included the Owa Obokun of Ijesha land, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran and the Aloko of Iloko Ijesha, Oba Oladele Olashore.

In October, the Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan had nullified the election of Senator Omisore who was the chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation and ordered a re-run within 90 days.

Mr Jide Omoworare, Action Congress (AC) candidate had filed an appeal against the earlier ruling of a lower tribunal in Osogbo which upheld the victory of Omisore in the April 21, 2007 National Assembly election.

In their different domains, the traditional rulers observed that Senator Omisore needs to be supported, having paid his dues for the unity and development of the state and the country at large.

Earlier, the leader of the campaign team, Governor Oni told the monarchs that the team decided to make the palaces of the traditional rulers their first point of call because of the respect the ruling PDP has for the traditional institution.

“As the fathers and the custodians of the our culture and traditional institution, we so much rely on your support and count on you to bless our campaign and our candidate for a successful outing in the December re-run election” Oni wooed the monarchs.

On the campaign team were Deputy Governors of Osun and Ekiti States, Erelu Olusola Obada and Dr Sikiru Lawal, former Minister of Aviation, Chief Ebenezer Babatope, National Vice Chairman of the PDP (South-West) Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo and Senator Iyabo Obasanjo Bello.
