Muslims in Osun State on Sunday thronged the Osogbo City Stadium to celebrate the new Hijrah year at a programme organised by Osun State Muslim Community to commemorate the event.

The colourful event was attended by dignitaries and prominent traditional rulers in the state and there was a match pass by schools children in which the best schools were given prizes.

Speaking on the occasion, Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola congratulated Muslims and the entire people of the state on the celebration of the Hijrah 1439 and charged them to continue to reflect on the lessons of Hijrah.

Aregbesola who was represented by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr. Obawale Simeon Adebisi said the Hijrah celebration this year was very significant and that it reflected the migration into prosperity.

The Patron of Osun State Muslim Community, Oba Abdul Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji while speaking on the occasion charged Muslims in the state to continue to imbibe good deeds and intensify efforts in propagating Islam with wisdom.
