Residents of Osun State have called on the state government to take action to curb incidences of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in the state.

The residents held a rally from the Freedom Park to the Osogbo Grammar School in Osogbo to raise awareness of the campaign against GBV as part of the 16 Days of Activism against GBV to commemorate the 2023 International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

Globally, from November 25 to December 10, every year, the days are dedicated for various activities to eradicate violence against women.

The Permanent Secretary, Osun State Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs Abimbola Babatunde, who spoke through the Director of Gender, Lola Adewale, said the state government remained committed to eliminating GBV in the state.

She called on stakeholders in the state to key into the initiatives designed to address the challenge so as to achieve zero GBV in the state by 2030.
