Our farmlands taken over by gov’t officials – Pai chief

The traditional ruler of Pai community in Kwali Area Council, Alhaji Abdullahi Bala Ibrahim, has said that farmlands belonging to his subjects have been taken over by some government officials without compensation.

Bala, who stated this when the secretary of the Area Council Services Secretariat, Adamu Abubakar Bappah, and his team visited him in his palace yesterday, said his subjects no longer have land to farm.

He said senior government officials often came with papers to claim land.

The traditional ruler then appealed to the FCT administration to intensify effort in compensating those whose farmlands have been taken over.

He also appealed to the administration to look into the state of the road from Pai junction to the community, adding that the community also lacked enough boreholes to cushion the effect of water scarcity in the village.

Responding, Bappah, said he would take stock of all the issues and challenges presented and table them before the FCT minister, Mohammad Musa Bello.
