The Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Emperor Jarret Tenebe, has said the party in the state is firmly under the control of Governor Monday Okpebholo, describing its loyalty to him as that of “a truck without brake, gear or sense.”

Tenebe, who was apparently referring to preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections, said everything concerning President Bola Tinubu, including the 3.5 million votes expected from Edo State, was already “settled.”

He made the remarks in Benin City during an empowerment programme organised by a pro-Tinubu group, City Boy Movement.

“I want to let the City Boys know that Edo State has already settled everything for our president,” he said.

Tenebe explained that the APC in the state is fully aligned with Governor Okpebholo’s leadership and direction.

“Our loyalty to the governor is total. We are like a truck with no brake, no gear and no sense,” he said. “Whatever the governor tells us to do, we can’t argue because he has all the special advisers and assistants to guide him. When he sends us on an errand, we simply move, no brake, no gear, no sense.”

Using a vivid metaphor, he continued: “If you have ever seen a truck descending without control, you know how powerful it can be. That’s what we are because we have no brake, no gear, and no sense.”

Tenebe further quoted the governor as saying that Edo’s 3.5 million votes for President Tinubu in 2027 were guaranteed.

“So even before your arrival and before the minister began telling us what the president has done for the nation, we don’t need to be convinced,” he said. “We already have no brake, no gear, and no sense, we’ve settled everything for 2027.”
