The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has disclosed that it has come up with plans that when properly executed, it would make the film industries of the country to be at same par with the film industries in the world.

The Corporation made the disclosure through its Chairman of Board, Engr. Abubakar Umar Gambo during a press conference in Jos yesterday.

Engr. Gambo explained that some of the plans designed out by his corporation included extensive and intensive training of filmmakers, provision of state-of-art equipment and adequate funding for the filmmakers.

He said, “Our plan one is to commence intensive and extensive trainings of filmmakers, two we also intend to provide funding and state of the art equipment for the use of filmmakers, if we give them proper training and we give them the opportunity to use some of the equipment they would excel.

“Apart from these two critical areas that we intended to explore for the benefits of filmmakers, the third area we are also looking at is making funding available for them, either by way of loan or grants as the case may be, because we have very creative and intelligent filmmakers, but cannot go far because of lack of funds to execute their projects.” He said.

Engr. Gambo also disclosed that the bill that would convert the corporation to commission has been passed by the House of Representative and at the stage of conference by both Senate and House of Representatives, after which the bill would be send to President Buhari for its assent.
