Today’s service is quite inspiring: Spiritual and Environmental Cleansing. We feel if you had held this service before now, we wouldn’t have had the October 1st incident.
[laughter] In a way, that October one incident was supposed to have been bigger than that. I believe that God limited it because the nation would have been more embarrassed—the magnitude of what was to have happened. God limited it and I believe that from now on, we are likely to see less of those things.
Because as we cleanse the environment of evil forces that harass people, cause chaos—particularly as we approach the 2011 elections, we need the intervention of God…we are actually praying that all the killings, the kidnappings, the assassinations we witness will not characterise the elections this time around.
Where are the evil forces coming from?
These are spiritual matters. They are demonic entities that people go to seek to either win elections or to do well in business. So they contact these spiritualists in order to receive power. They make sacrifices and once you give them room, they create a lot of problems. That’s exactly what is happening.
What specifically do you think the church has not done to get these people to do things right?
The fact is the church is doing a lot. If you look at what is happening, I don’t think the church has ever prayed as much as it is praying now for the nation. Apart from the fact that some of these people belong to some congregations…the spiritual leader would preach but it’s up to the individual. It’s a voluntary thing. You can’t force anybody to toe any particular line. But we depend on the power of God to change their orientation.
But the truth is people need to understand that power comes from God and they should wait patiently. That you didn’t win this election doesn’t mean you will not win the next one. It shouldn’t be a do-or-die affair.
People should honour the sanctity of life because anybody who wants to kill the people he wants to rule is not qualified to be a leader.
You have just held a power-packed cleansing. The congregation demonstrated that they were let loose from their bondage. What really was happening?
Whatever happens in the spirit world controls what happens in the physical realm. And the spirit world is actually divided into two camps, the camp of the devil and the camp of God. God created these demons. They rebelled under the leadership of Satan…
And they are now on earth inhabiting people, possessing people, creating problems through phenomena that we have come to be accustomed to like witches, wizards and other forces—just trying to mess people’s destinies up. So those of us who have been commissioned to set people free— according to what Jesus Christ said in the bible, he gave us the power and the ability to cast out demons. So, wherever they are operating in people’s lives, we have the power to cast them out.
That’s exactly what we witnessed here today on a very large scale. So many people who were troubled by these evil spirits—ordinarily you wouldn’t know. The problem with spiritual problems is that you cannot discern them with your physical eyes. There are certain illnesses for example, that you go to hospital and the doctors will tell you, “We’ve checked you, we can’t find anything wrong.” But the person is sick! How do you explain that?
In such instances, we realised that these are problems caused by demonic entities, spiritual forces. Once they are cast out, the problem is solved. They manifest in nearly every area of life. They affect a person’s financial wellbeing, educational wellbeing, physical wellbeing, mental wellbeing etc.
There are examples in the bible of how Jesus had to cast out demons from a mad man. It was those demons that were making the man mad. After the demons were cast out of him, the man became normal.
Demons affect people’s emotion, affect people’s mind, their bodies, marriages. They affect everything! But you can flush them out!
You are reputed for correctly saying what will happen. We saw what happened on October 1st. From your spiritual foresight, could you say what would be of 2011?
We will have peaceful, credible elections contrary to expectations in certain quarters. My confidence is based on the fact that we believe in God who answers prayers. The church has prayed! And since the church has prayed, I believe in my heart of hearts that our prayers have been answered and I know, prophetically speaking, that we’ll have free, fair and credible elections come 2011.
There might be a few skirmishes here and there but not on the scale that a lot of people are [being] apprehensive of.
The fears are based on unfolding events. On 25th October, 13 containers were conveying cargo found to be military hardware.
Rocket launchers, grenade launchers and all of that! Before now, these things sneaked in but now they are being discovered. I believe it’s a direct result of answers to prayers. That well meaning Nigerians, whether they go to church or go to mosque or whatever religious persuasion, people are crying to God that enough is enough. That’s why these things are being discovered now.
