Individuals in any part of the world, including Nigeria, can now check every detail about a vehicle in Europe, United States, and Canada before purchasing it by using a new technology known as VehicleCheck.
Founder of the car tracking and recovery company based in Canberra, Australia, Mr Idowu Banjo, in a statement on Wednesday, disclosed that beyond helping vehicle owners locate their stolen automobiles, the innovation has been further upgraded to help those who import cars from Europe, US and Canada for personal use or resale purposes to know the full history of such cars before making any purchase.
According to him, by logging into the platform vehiclecheck.info, users will be able to take advantage of the various services offered by the company to find out any information about a vehicle, including sales, mileage, theft, accidents, and other relevant history.
This, in Banjo’s estimation, will help potential buyers scale the hurdle of purchasing a ‘problematic’ vehicle right from source.
Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, is a favourite dumping ground for stolen automobiles from around the world.
In 2021, the Federal Government revealed that 40 percent of vehicles brought into the country were stolen from elsewhere.
This sad situation has caused sellers and buyers a lot of problems over the years, especially when reported and tracked down to the country by international security agencies.
However, Banjo believes that sanity will be restored in the system, and car sellers and buyers in Nigeria can experience more peace by taking advantage of the power and effectiveness of VehicleCheck.
He said, “The upgrade to VehicleCheck is a game changer in many ways. Apart from helping users dig into the history of any vehicle in Europe, US and Canada, the new system also helps you verify information about a car you found in an auction or a friend or relative found for you.
“The good thing about this technology is that nobody will be able to lie to you anymore about the true details and history of any vehicle from those parts of the world.
“Our platform has every piece of information on how users can navigate through the various services we offer. We have designed it in such a way that even a child can get any detail with ease.
“We are happy to introduce this innovation because we know that it will bring about more transparency in the buying and selling of vehicles in many parts of the world.”
Since its launch in February 2024, users from around the world have testified of how the new technology has helped them recover stolen vehicles and avoid buying one.
Experts, while reacting to the new system, opined that security agencies like the Police and Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) can leverage the invention to prevent vehicles stolen from other parts of the world from coming into the country.
