Interest groups have said persistent attacks on schools by terrorists in the North East have increased the number of out-of-school children.

Speaking during a joint press briefing organised by the Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All (CSACEFA), the One Campaign and the Malala Fund, in Abuja yesterday, the Policy Adviser of CSACEFA, Chioma Osuji, said parents were scared to send their children to school following the attacks.

“Many children in the North East have dropped out of school and parents are afraid of sending their wards to school for fear of attacks. And this has led to increase in the number of out-of-school children as schools have been closed in some communities,” she said
