The cleric who died on September1, was buried yesterday in his hometown, Okuodede community, Sapele.

Service of Songs was held on Thursday at his residence in Ogberikoko, Sapele.

The late Ikpen who was a foremost educationist, passed away after a brief illness at the age of  75.

Ikpen was Pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church from June 1985 to December 2003, and also chairman of the Delta State Baptist Conference at various times.

Before becoming a minister of the gospel, Ikpen taught English language and Bible Knowledge and was principal of several secondary schools including the Okpe Grammar School , Sapele from where he left secular work in 1984 to become the pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, Sapele in June 1985.

He left active service as a minister in Bethel Baptist Church in December, 2003.

He authored three books namely: It is well with Men of Faith, Poetry for African Students, and When God Shall Pass through Our Nation.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Victoria Ikpen, nine children, several grand-children and siblings including Pastor J. P. Ikpen of Ogorode Baptist Church, Sapele, Delta State.
