Outrage over death of Okada rider in Aba

A commercial motorcyclist, Vitalis Ibeanu, has died in an accident along the bad portion of an abandoned major road in Aba.

The 47-year-old died while trying to navigate through an abandoned project site in the night after a torrential rainfall that flooded the area, along Port-Harcourt Road, Aba.

The 5.7km double lane carriageway has been under construction for over five years as the government claimed that a huge sum of money had been spent on the project in that time.

The Port Harcourt Road is one of the roads for which the state government had borrowed about $56m from the World Bank under the NEWMAP Ndiegoro Flood Control Project.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Works, Elder Bob Chiedozie Ogu, has expressed shock and sadness over the unfortunate news of the death of Ibeanu, who died from the flooding on the road.
