The Kano State Independent Research Centre Trust (KIRCT) has said the recent report showing that Nigeria as a nation spent a total of $1.5 billion to $2billion on foreign healthcare-related services in the first quarter is so alarming and unacceptable as the nation can’t afford to be spending that much outside.
This was disclosed during the official opening of the centre by the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Centre, Professor Jameel Ismail Ahmed.

According to him, the recent finding has triggered the centre’s resolve to begin operation that will provide the needed healthcare services within Nigeria.
He explained that the centre has already commenced medical services provision as part of its efforts to ensure reduction in the nation’s medical tourism level.
Declaring the hospital open, Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim, said the hospital will no doubt assist the host community and the people of Kano State to have access to quality healthcare services within their reach.
