The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has disclosed that 1,123 complaints have been lodged for overbilling of customers by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) in Nasarawa State.

NERC Commissioner for Consumer Affairs, Dr. Moses Arigu, made the disclosure at the commissioning of the Customer Complaints Office of AEDC in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

Dr. Arigu said, “This exercise was very imperative for the customers, and one of the great benefits that could improve metering against estimated metering. It is on record that within the period of January to September, 2018, NERC recorded 1,123 complaints from customers within Lafia and its environs who were dissatisfied with services rendered.”

He said NERC had directed all Distributions Companies (DisCos) in the country to carry out customer enumeration in their domains by March 31, 2019.

In his remarks, the Director, Corporate Services of AEDC, Mr. Abimbola Odubiyi, reiterated the company’s commitment to improve on power supply, and advised electricity consumers in the state to always channel their grievances to the complaints office for immediate response.

“This office is open for customers to address problems on service delivery. Feel free any day to bring your complaints and they will properly be addressed.”

A power consumer, Mr. John Donatus, appealed to AEDC to address all the complaints lodged by customers by supplying them regular power.
