About 10 million Out-of-the-school children roaming the street is the major challenge to the country’s education sector. The Vice Chancellor of Baze University, Prof. Micheal Hodd, has said.

Prof Hodd who is also an economist made the remark in an exclusive with Daily Trust in Abuja.
“The biggest challenge facing Nigeria education is the 10 million children who are not in the school”.

He said that getting these 10 million children into school should be top priority in the fight against poverty.
According to him, education was tremendously important assets that parents could give to their children.

But he lamented that most of the parents in Nigeria couldn’t give their children the required education due to poverty.
He said that about 65 percent of the country’s population were living in poverty adding that with such condition parents could not give their children quality education.

He however said that lack of food; security and adequate shelter were the major obstacle to the quality and sustainable education particularly in rural areas.
