Alzaq Pharmacy Nigeria Ltd in collaboration with the National Eye Centre Kaduna has provided over 400 residents of Mami and neighbouring communities in Kogi State free eye care services.
Out of the 400 screened, 38 of them received free surgeries provided for them during the medical outreach at the Mami Primary Health Care Centre.
The eye surgery was done for people suffering from cataract and pterygium respectively by the eight-man eye specialists.
The beneficiaries were drawn from Kupa community, Kakanda, Eggan and other communities in Lokoja Local government Area of the state.
The Managing Director of Alzaq Pharmacy Nigeria Ltd, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim (Garkuwan Kupa), said 25 surgeries were done for cataract while 13 were for pterygium.
He said free screening for blood sugar, blood pressure, and malaria among others was provided during the outreach.
The Secretary-General of Kupa Development Association, Dr Usman Abdulkadir Yakub, thanked the organisers for the free eye services.
He called on stakeholders in the state to revitalise the dilapidated health facilities in Kupa community and environs.
The Shaba Kupa Alhaji Usman C. Umar and Etsu Ikin Makun Dr Barr. Ndagi Adamu, thanked the medical team and promised to give all necessary support.
