The Ebira People’s Association (EPA) Kano chapter has offered free medical care to over 4000 of its members in Kano during a free medical outreach exercise.

Speaking to newsmen during the exercise held at Na’ibawa quarters, the Chairman of the Association, Pharmacist Mahmud Ozigi, said the exercise was aimed at reaching out to Ebira people to enable them access healthcare service delivery.

“We are conducting the exercise courtesy of the little contribution from our members. We have conducted similar exercise last year and it yielded positive results, that is why the association decided to conduct the outreach twice in a year,” he said.

On his part, the Chairman of EPA medical committee, Dr Sulaiman Yakubu Omeiza, said the committee discovered that over 30 percent of health issues addressed during last year’s outreach were mostly hypertension and diabetics, adding that in view of that during this year’s outreach, the association included a health talk on managing such issues.

One of the beneficiaries, Malama Hafsat Abdullahi said that this year’s medical outreach was timely taking into consideration of the ongoing health workers strike, saying “I found it comfortable relating with the medical team in my native language.

“I am sure this year’s outreach will definitely record huge success due to the ongoing strike by health workers.”
