In its effort to sustain the feat achieved in polio eradication in the country, Kiyawa Local Government Area of Jigawa state has i munized over 70,000 children in the last quarter of this year.
The councils chairman, Nasir Ahmed, who made the disclosure in Dutse, said the number of children immunized exceeded the target given to his council.
He said the council was given a target of 65,000 children but immunized 76, 301 children, saying, all necessary measures were put in place to sustain the tempo.
He added that his council had also carried out an intervention in the health sector by providing Kiyawa primary healthcare Center with a blood bank refrigerator and a scanner.
“In order to check maternal and neonatal motility in the council, a scanner and printer was bought and installed. Previously, pregnant women from this council underwent the procedure only in Dutse.” He stated.
