The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has commissioned a standard boxing ring worth ₦60 million, donated by Mr. Omolei Yakubu Imadu, the founder of YUCATECO Sports, to strengthen grassroots boxing in the state.
Mr. Imadu, while handing over the boxing ring to the state, commended the Governor for his commitment to sports development in the state, saying the donation reflects his decision to actively support a government that prioritizes youth through sports.
“I have closely followed the Governor’s work in sports development. This is my contribution to that momentum,” Imadu said. “YUCATECO Sports will also launch grassroots boxing competitions across Ekiti, from local governments to state finals, and support coaching development.”
Governor Oyebanji, while receiving the facility, applauded the private sector support and pledged full collaboration with YUCATECO Sports.

“This effort reinforces our belief that sports can drive youth development, create jobs, and shape champions. We welcome more initiatives like this,” he said.
Dr. Olusola Osetoba, Technical Advisor on Sports Development, commended the Governor for building a system that attracts credible partners.
Hon. Israel Adesokan, Chairman of the Boxing Association, thanked both Mr. Imadu and Governor Oyebanji, promising to put the ring to full use in talent discovery and grooming.
He said the state sports story is being rewritten with this kind of support and investment.
