Ekiti State governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has commissioned the first 3.6 MW independent power project (IPP), in Ekiti State, to address the challenge of inadequate electricity supply.

Governor Oyebanji said the IPP, started by a former governor of the state, Dr Kayode Fayemi, about two years ago and completed by his administration, will address inadequate supply, distribution challenges, dilapidated and vandalized power infrastructure and network problems.

According to Oyebanji, the IPP was in response to the very poor electricity supply to Ekiti through the national grid system that gives 13MW of electricity to the state on the average.

Oyebanji, at the inauguration, said the IPP would put an end to the epileptic supply of electricity that was not in sight if the state did not do something drastically and differently.
