Oyelowo whose movie credits include Boxoffice hit, ‘The Help’, ‘The rise of the planet of the apes’ and recently released ‘Red Tails’ (also starred American singer Neyo) received Canada Lee Rising Star Actor award. Van Vicker who is referred to as one of Africa’s hottest movie stars was awarded ‘The Africa Channel Creative Achievement Award‘, while Jimmy Jean Louis was honoured with ‘The Africa Channel Diaspora Award’.
Other recipients were Hollywood actress Meagan Good for ‘Beach Richards Rising Star Actress Award’ and Rwanda’s Eric Kabera for ‘African channel Visionary Award’. Award winning actress Loretta Devine received a Lifetime Achievement Award.
PAN African Film and Arts Festival founded in 1992 by award-winning actor, Danny Glover, is America’s largest and most prestigious black film and arts festival which honors world-renowned actors, filmmakers, community leaders, and fine artists for their contributions on stage, television, film and arts.
