Specifically, the Commissioner of Police for the State Command, Mr Baba Adisa Bolanta declared that government-private partnership arrangement was highly desirable to effectively achieve security in all the nooks and crannies of the state.

According to the Police Commissioner, with the increase in crime rate, the pressure was on the police to perform while regrettably, the basic tools and logistics needed to tackle criminals were lacking.

Mr Baba Adisa Bolanta warned that with the launching of the Ember Months Operation, criminals should stay off Oyo State as the Police Command had renewed its combat readiness to fight them.

He further noted that Oyo State was undergoing tremendous evolution in recent years as a result of change in societal outlook which placed more responsibilities on the police.

He emphasised that the new tasks required new techniques, tools and equipment and sometimes new outlook, adding that since security in the society was the responsibility of everybody, Nigerians must always be ready to complement the efforts of government.

Oyo State Police boss also called for healthy partnership between the police and members of the society saying that “where there is healthy partnership, there will be free flow of communication, which eventually reduces friction, conflict, cynicism and negative perception of each other .To be good partners in business, both the police and the public need attitudinal change”.

Oyo State Governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala in his address told the gathering that as the cheif security officer of the state his Government would always do everything within its power to assist the police in protecting lives and properties of the citizens of the state.

Otunba Alo-Akala who was represented by the Special Adviser to the government on security, Mrs Comfort Alebiosu further declared that the state police commissioner should feel free to demand for all necessary equipment required by the command to provide adequate security for the state from his government.

Also, the Chief launcher at the occasion, Alhaji Azeez Arisekola Alao urged the police to always get rid of armed robbers caught on the act as, according to him, criminals as dangerous group set of people that should not be tolerated in the society. He therefore called on everybody to give the police necessary supports and donate generously to the ember months launch.
