Oyo reaffirms commitment to clean environment

He made this known in Ibadan over the weekend while receiving over 100 Mammoth Wheel Waste Bins presented by Oyo State Officials Wives Association (OYSOWA) led by the chairperson and wife of the governor, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, at the state Government Secretariat complex.
 According to the governor, cleanliness and environmental sanitation are very essential in the ongoing transformation agenda being implemented by the state government, pointing out that cleanliness is next to godliness and that a dirty person cannot gain access to the Kingdom of God.
 Governor Ajimobi ,while commending the OYSOWA initiative said that “they are helping this administration consolidate the transformation agenda, laying emphasis on clean environment which is crucial in attracting major investors, determine good health of the people, as well as influence the level of progress in the state.”
 The governor also charged women to insist on being given opportunities to lead and set the pace just as OYSOWA has done with the presentation of the Mammoth Wheel/Waste bins which he received as a noble contribution to the state, noting further that, “the first impression by a visitor to any state or nation is the environment you see, particularly in Nigeria of today where there is competition by states for investment and development having in mind that apart from security, a neat and healthy environment comes next.”
 Earlier in her welcome address, the governor’s wife, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, explained that OYSOWA which was established in 2012 is a body that seeks to harness, synergize and harmonize potentials of the wives of public officers in the state in order to provide support for their husbands as they strive to deliver a new Oyo State that will be the envy of all.
She reeled out some of the achievements of OYSOWA to include organizing a national women’s summit, sensitization rally and seminar to stem the tide of gender based violence, seminar on building a total woman, tree planting exercise during the World Environment Day and distribution of brooms and plastic bins to market women to encourage their participation in the weekly sanitation exercise.
