Oyo State government has said that the federal government’s initiated home grown school feeding programme would continue in the state and that all food vendors would be paid this week.

Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Adeniyi Olowofela, said in a statement on Monday that the federal government had assured that the challenges in which some food vendors were not paid would be resolved this week.

He said government paid the vendors directly to prepare meals for the pupils, and that Oyo State’s Ministry of Education, Science and Technology supervised the vendors.

He said N72 million for the first two weeks which was from Monday, January 30th to February 10, 2017, was paid to 60 per cent of the engaged vendors while the remaining 40 per cent had problems with their Bank Verification Number (BVN),

The commissioner said government would pay the remaining vendors this week and the hitch delaying payment would be finally resolved.
