The case brought Jackson to disrepute and several other cases followed. Till his death, he was viewed as one who delights in having carnal knowledge of young boys but Chandler, who Jackson befriended at a very tender age said he made to claim simply to make money in damages. Jaskson was never convicted as the case was settled out of court.

Chandler had tendered apologies to the Jackson families for any embarrasemment his false allegation might have caused. His father recently commited suicide by shooting himself in the head. He did not leave a suicide note.
