There were about 32 countries in attendance with over 400 delegates from Nigeria. The Seven days programme was filled with praises and life changing testimonies of the wonders God is doing in remote villages with little or no assistance from anywhere except God’s divine grace. There were about twelve messages which centered on the need for transformation both in the spiritual and secular African society especially leadership and governmental transformation.
There was a call for Africa to trust in the action of the Holy Spirit with topics like” Africa, Be at the Service of the Poor, Preserve Life and Love;Africa, Go! Be the Source of Life and Hope for Humanity etc.
This messages were delivered by both Religious and Lay Servants of God e.g. Sister Anna Mary Mukamwezi (DM) the adviser of the Mother Superior General of the Daughters of Mary and Joseph, Rome; Fr Martin Birba, Cameroun, Rev. Fr. Rufus Pereira from India, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Tuslime, Uganda (the African Subcommittee on ICCRS Chairman , others include Oreste Pesare, Italy, the ICCRS representative to AFSCI and Mr Jean Pilya from Benin Republic who ministered on Saturday 27th August at Omnisport Stadium Yaoundé on the theme: “Africa, come Down, Salvation has come to Your House Today.”
Dr Edo Olutu the only speaker from Nigeria delivered the second message on “Be, Holy, Consecrated Like Living Sacrifices” in which he said Holiness describes the nature of God and it is imperative for every child of God to be Holy. He added that to be perfect one needs to starve the flesh of the vices recorded in Gal.5:16-21, grow in the fruit of the Holy Spirit, be renewed in mind, walk with Godly persons etc.
He also delivered a message on “Youth, Your Body is Made for Life” during the two days special programme for the youths. The peak of the program was the fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Fifth day during the ministration by the Guest Speaker, Rev. Fr. Rufus Pereira from India.
The Congress came to a befitting close with a closing Mass celebrated by Archbishop Christophe Zoa, the Archbishop of Yaounde Catholic Archdiocese. Messages from Pope Benedict the XVI and the ICCRS President Michelle Moran were also delivered during the closing Mass. The next Congress will hold in Uganda in 2014.
