Chairman of the committee Rashid Ladoja disclosed this during deliberations by the committee, where he also called for the ban of both importation and local manufacture of non-energy saving electrical appliances, especially light bulbs.
Ladoja, who said energy saving appliances will boost electricity supply in the country, added that all the investment forums and meetings in the country will not yield the desired result if the energy sector is not fixed.
“To achieve success, government should put emphasis on renewable energy because if you fix energy, it means you have fixed Nigeria. We also urge the National Assembly to hasten work on the Petroleum Industry Bill so as to position the sector for success.
“Policy on energy saving appliances should be pursued. Buildings above N25 million should incorporate solar in their system which in the long run is cheaper than the conventional source of power,” he said.
