Parents of students in the 104 unity colleges have appealed to the Federal Government to employ the 8,000 temporary teachers serving in the schools.  

Secretary National Parents Association of Federal Unity Secondary Schools (NAPAFUSS), Jerry Nwani, and the Secretary, Board of Trustees (BOT), Bob Okoridem, issued a communiqué at a triennial delegate’s congress in Ibadan.

NAPAFUSS and the BOT in the communiqué, called on government to increase funding to the colleges to improve on the standard of education by employing the temporary teachers.

The parents further urged government to restore the original policy and vision of establishing federal unity colleges “to also create a sense of nationality among young Nigerians who attend colleges in other parts of the country other than their places of origin for the overall development of the country.”

Election was conducted at congress in which Kefas D. Kaura emerged as national president, Owoibia Oyinkro (1st national vice president) and Bello O. Emmanuel (secretary general).
