Some parents of the youths detained during the #EndBadGovernance protests have sought spiritual intervention against continued detention of their children without trial.
Last week, the parents also staged a protest at the Kano State House of Assembly, seeking the swift release of their detained children.
They held special prayers and seek God’s intervention on the fate of their children who have been incarcerated in Abuja without been taken to the court of law for trial.
Representing the parents, Malam Nura Ahmad revealed that every week, they gather to offer special prayers to get their children released from unlawful detention.
He said it has been two months since they started the prayers, three months now after the arrest and transfer of their children to Abuja where they are being held.
The parents reiterated their call to politicians holding influential positions, the governor of Kano State, deputy Senate president, religious leaders and the academia to lend their voice so that justice prevails in the matter.
A mother of one of the young men arrested said her son was arrested while on an errand and since then they do not know his whereabouts.
Last week, the aggrieved parents staged protests in the state House of Assembly where they called for swift action for the release of their children.
The #EndBadGovernance protests, which took place between August 1 and August 10 across Nigeria, voiced public frustration with economic challenges and hardships under President Bola Tinubu‘s administration.
