Educating Nigerian Girls in New Enterprises (ENGINE) has called on parents to prioritize the education of their children especially girl child for the betterment of the society in the future.

Hajiya Gambo Mustapha who made the call during the celebration of this year’s international day of the girl child organized by EGINE said for the society to be great a girl child must be educated as she is the one who teaches her child to become an asset to the society.

ENGINE is an NGO advancing the course of girl-child between the ages of 17 to 23 with the aim of transforming their future by helping them discover their potential in education.

The organization also strives to empower girls with requisite skills so as to become better people of in society.

Hajiya Gambo enjoined parents to take their children as their best friend especially the girl child so that whatever is bothering them they would know and help them a find solution to it.

In his address the Programme Manager of ENGINE, Malam Mustapha Muhammad Chiroma said that this year’s theme focused on expanding learning opportunities for the girl-child and how to prepare her for a successful transition into the world of work.

Chiroma added that ENGINE with support from the Grassroots Microfinance bank encouraged those who have acquired skills with loans from 1000 naira to a 100,000 with no interest in order to boost their skills.

Mrs. Nafisa Abdulkarim who is an ENGINE Programme Officer also said that the programme was not only meant to teach the girls, rather to encourages them to teach their friends to be defended from society ills.
