About 600 children from Abuja and neighbouring states took part in a 5-day Islamic camping programme where they were equipped with pristine Islamic knowledge.

The annual National Muslim Children Camping Programme organised by The Young Muslims Association was to nurture young minds who would uphold Islamic ethics and cause a meaningful change in the society.

The 20th edition, held in Maitama, Abuja, featured lectures, session on Islamic jurisprudence, film show, sports vocational training and counselling, all in line with Islamic ethics.

The year’s edition harped on soul purification because when their souls are purified, the kids will grow up a better Muslims and Nigerian citizens, live peacefully with others and cause a meaningful change in the society, said Qosim Odejobi, the camp coordinator at the closing ceremony.

When a child is given a sound Islamic knowledge, not only the parents will benefit but also the society at large, he added.

One of the youngsters, Adeagbo Idayat, said the programme has helped in educating them on the human soul, its disease and cure through reading the Qur’an and constant remembrance of Allah.
