The Senator Representing Gombe South in the 10th National Assembly, Anthony Siyako Yaro, has called on the clergymen and religious leaders to participate in active politics thereby mending national policies and programmes.

The lawmaker made the disclosure during an interview with newsmen at the 30th Ministry Anniversary and a book launched titled “The Pendulum of Prosperity Gospel” authored by Rev. Dr. Jonah Samson held at ECWA GoodNews Church, Maitama Abuja on Sunday.

He encouraged clergymen to participate in politics to bring moral guidance and values-based leadership to the political sphere of this country.

Sen. Yaro emphasized that Spiritual leaders both Christians and Muslims can bring a moral compass to politics, helping to guide decision-making and policy development. Leaders often have significant influence within their communities, which can be leveraged to promote social justice and advocate for marginalized groups.

Speaking on the theme of the book he lauded Pastor Dr. Jonah for dwelling on prosperity as a major challenge among ministers of the gospel today.

He said ” the clergyman wrote about prosperity which is an area that is very difficult to manage among the Clergymen. You have to draw a line between going into the world to make money call it prosperity and to curtail yourself to the reasonable standard of playing your roles as man of God.

On his part, the Vice President of Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Dr. Stephen Panya Baba said the book launched is timely to bring Biblical clarification on the controversy surrounding the issue of prosperity in the Christendom.

He said “I think our brother Rev. Dr. Jonah has done a very thorough work, analysis of the Biblical version to present a clear balance, position on the issue of prosperity so that people will not go to extend whether it’s extreme poverty as a sign of spirituality or extreme wealth as a prove of spirituality but staying on course trusting the Lord to bless them and using this blessings for others.

Dr. Panya while calling on the people to trust in God by remaining steadfast and prayerful, tasked the government to provide lasting solutions to ameliorate the hardship in the country.

The author of the book and Senior Pastor of ECWA GoodNews, Dr. Jonah said ” We live in a day and time where we see proliferation of churches all over and Ministers hitching their messages on prosperity gospel. The message in this book in as much as God prosper us and he desires that we prospers even our souls prosperite but we must balance the issue of prosperity with hard work and faith in God.

“The book seems to draws our attention to the reality in life, In as as much as God desires that we prospers we must not take the message of prosperity too extreme but realizes that our God is a faithful God who rewards whatever we do here on earth.

He called on ministers to avoid using the prosperity term to deceive people but abide with the biblical clarification noting that our God chooses to bless and chooses to withhold.
