Some residents of Pasepa community in Bwari Area Council, Abuja have appealed to the council authorities to renovate the community’s primary healthcare centre.
A resident Mohammed Ibrahim said the centre has been in a state of disrepair for over two years adding that pregnant women are transported on motorcycles to neighboring communities for medical treatment.
He said due to the distance of the health centres most women deliver their babies at home with the help of traditional birth attendants.
Another resident, Nuhu Bala said the centre is short of health workers and it relies on volunteers.
He appealed to the government to give primary healthcare priority by renovating the centre and posting adequate health workers.
