A passenger died after a bus rammed into a truck in the early hours of last Friday at Agyana junction in Abaji, on Abuja – Lokoja road.
A witness said the incident happened at about 3:27a.. when a J5 bus with registration number SMK 678 XL rammed into a Fiat truck with registration number KZR 263 ZT.
He said the bus which was carrying tomato was coming from Gwagwalada axis when the it crashed into the back of the truck.
He said the passenger died on the spot while the bus driver was nowhere to be found immediately the incident occurred.
He said vigilantes who were on patrol alerted men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) who arrived the scene immediately to convey the corpse to the hospital.
Our reporter further learnt that five persons were also injured in another accident which occurred on the same day at Omoko village, on Abuja -Lokoja road.
It was gathered that the accident involved a Toyota Coaster bus with registration number CT 44 B08 when one of the tyres burst while on speed.
When contacted, the Abaji unit commander of the FRSC, Assistant Corps Commander (ACC) Olasupo Esuruoso, confirmed the two separate crashes.
He attributed the first crash to dangerous driving and loss of control, while he attributed the second crash to tyre burst, speed limit violation and loss of control.
The commander said a total of 27 people were involved in the Coaster bus crash.
He said five persons were injured in the bus and were taken to Abaji General Hospital for treatment, while the corpse of a passenger that died in the J5 bus had been deposited at the hospital mortuary.
