Passengers stranded as Aviation unions disrupt MMA2 operations

Despite the restraining court order obtained by the management of Bi-Courtney Aviation Service Limited (BASL), operators of the Murtala Muhammed Airport private terminal (MMA2), aviation unions this morning made good their threat to shut down the terminal.

Hundreds of passengers were stranded as the unions comprising the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSAN) and National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) stormed the domestic terminal two.

There is heavy security at the terminal as flights operations were disrupted by the shutdown.

Airlines affected included Dana Air, Med-View, Azman Air, Arik Air and Max Air.

The unions and the management of BASL had engaged in running battle over disengagement of 20 workers of the company.
