Police in Kano State have arrested one Pastor Samuel John of No. 26 Whether-head, Sabon-Gari area for allegedly raping 13-year-old twin sisters and their 11-year-old younger sibling.

John was paraded along with 34 other suspected rapists by the Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Magaji Musa Majia, yesterday in Kano.

He said from August 1 to date, 34 rape cases were reported to the police, leading to the arrest of 35 suspects.

Majia said the police also arrested Dahiru Haruna and Hamza Lawan, all of Sheka quarters in Kano metropolis, for allegedly “conspiring and acting in an unnatural manner against a 9-year -old male victim.”

Others arrested include Nuruddeen Abubakar, 40, of Unguwa Uku quarters Kano for allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter who had survived three abortions from him.

Musbahu Ibrahim, 25, of Zangon Marikita quarters, was arrested for severally raping his female cousin.

The police spokesperson said all the suspects had confessed to the commission of the crime they were being accused of.

He said, “Members of the community especially neighbours and relations are also enjoined to keenly and closely look into their neighbourhood with a view to detecting any unruly behaviour. This is because, the attitudes of some parents, relations and family friends is turning out to be shocking. It is unimaginable to see a father taking advantage of his biological daughter in the absence of her mother.”
