In Nigeria’s quest to overcome chronic electricity shortages, few projects have captured national attention like the Aba Integrated Power Project (Aba IPP) under Geometric Power. Since March 2021, Patience Ndidi Ike has served as Admin and Corporate Services Manager, Procurement Support, Protocol Officer, Customer Service Operator, Process Improvement Strategist, and Executive Assistant to the Managing Director at Geometric Power: Aba Power Limited Electric in Abuja. Her multifaceted role has been instrumental in sustaining the behind-the-scenes machinery that keeps this pioneering utility running smoothly amid rapid expansion and operational demands.
Geometric Power’s Aba IPP, commissioned in February 2024, stands as Nigeria’s first fully integrated independent power utility. The 141 MW (scalable to 188 MW) gas-fired plant, supported by a 27-kilometer dedicated gas pipeline, generates and distributes reliable power directly to a ring-fenced area covering nine local government areas in Abia State. This model bypasses many national grid vulnerabilities, delivering consistent electricity to industrial clusters, commercial hubs, and residential users in Aba, a city long hampered by unreliable supply despite its status as a manufacturing powerhouse.
Recent milestones underscore the project’s momentum. In May 2025, former President Olusegun Obasanjo commissioned a new 30 MVA substation in Ogbor Hill, Aba, praising it as a fulfillment of long-held vision and urging statewide replication. Construction of dedicated industrial lines, such as the Ukwa 33kV feeder, has followed, attracting multinational firms back to the region and spurring investments like Neimeth Pharmaceutical’s new manufacturing plant. These advances build on the plant’s one-year operational anniversary in 2025, where resolved gas supply challenges enabled near-continuous output and mass metering initiatives to enhance transparency and service delivery.
Ndidi Ike’s contributions align directly with these achievements. She manages the MD’s daily administrative demands, coordinating an active calendar, high-level internal and external meetings, and communications with board members, donors, and stakeholders. As executive assistant, she drafts correspondence, prepares budgets for the admin and corporate services department, arranges complex travel logistics including visas, and takes minutes for critical sessions. Her oversight of procurement; from requisition to delivery, ensures cost-effective sourcing, supplier negotiations, contract compliance, and strong vendor relationships, all vital for maintaining infrastructure in a high-stakes energy environment.
Beyond logistics, Ndidi Ike handles protocol and event planning, scouting partnerships for project development, and representing the organization at public forums. In customer service, she resolves inquiries, manages complaints, maintains database records, and drafts status reports, fostering trust among users transitioning from diesel generators to grid alternatives. As process improvement strategist, she conducts strategy reviews, offers senior management advice, and promotes teamwork through staff meetings—efforts that streamline operations in a vertically integrated utility facing gas constraints and scaling pressures.
Her work supports Geometric Power’s broader impact: powering industrial revival in Aba, creating jobs (with projections of over 370,000 direct and indirect during operations), and modeling private-sector-led solutions to Nigeria’s energy deficit. Challenges persist—such as occasional gas shortages requiring costly imports; but the company’s resilience, backed by Afreximbank financing and stakeholder collaborations, continues to drive progress.
Ndidi Ike’s tenure reflects a blend of administrative rigor and strategic insight. Holding a B.Tech in Estate Management and Valuation from Federal University of Technology Minna (2015) and pursuing an MBA from Rome Business School, she bolsters her expertise with certifications in Operations and Project Management (2023), Strategic Business Management, Business Analytics with Excel, and an in-view PMP. Skills in program management, advanced data analytics (Excel, Power BI), procurement, sales, and customer service complement her analytical, result-oriented approach.
