The resolve by the Katsina State government to engage only indigenous contractors for service delivery is a welcome development. The decision will not only promote local contractors but would also boost the economy of the state. According to Governor Aminu Bello Masari, the local governments will also engage local contractors within their domains and would only engage outsiders in the absence of capable ones to handle peculiar projects. The governor frowned at the rating that Katsina is one of the most poverty-ridden states in the country and wants to reverse the situation.
