The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) under the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Police Force is collaborating with some prominent traditional rulers to tackle crime in all the nooks and crannies of the state.
The leadership of PCRC, who paid an advocacy visit to some traditional rulers in the state, expressed the need for all, including the traditional rulers to be part of efforts aimed at strengthening security in the state.
The state chairman, Comrade Amitolu Shittu led other members of the executives of PCRC to the palaces of the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adekunle Aromoran, the Akire of Ikire, Oba Olatunde Falabi, the Alayegun of Ode-Omu, Oba Abdulhameed Oke, the Timi of Ede, Oba
Munirudeen Adesola, the Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Omowonuola Oyesosin and the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi as part of initiatives to address insecurity at the grassroots.
Speaking, Shittu said the PCRC was committed to ensuring that the state was safe by assisting the police in securing and protecting lives and properties. He lauded the monarchs for ensuring peaceful existence in their respective domains.
He also sought the collaboration of the royal fathers in assisting the police to provide security, and urged the monarch to sensitise their subjects to always volunteer useful information to the police, while assuring that such information would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
In their separate remarks, the monarchs assured that they would not relent in supporting efforts designed to curb crime and ensure security in the state.
They noted that Osun State government had invested heavily in security and appealed to the people to support the current administration by paying their taxes to enable the state survive the current economic crunch in the country .
