The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has accused Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of engaging a firm that has been declared dormant by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to audit the state account.
Last week, the governor said over N11.9 billion of public funds were looted from the treasury between 2011 and 2019 quoting a forensic audit by SSAC Advisory and Professional limited.

But the opposition party in a statement by its publicity secretary, Prince’Tunji Moronfoye, challenged the governor to “publish online and offline the contract papers and charges paid for the services.”
It said findings from CAC showed that the audit firm hired by the state government was inactive.
“It is pertinent to remind Kwarans that an external auditor doesn’t have the legal authority to audit state accounts. Such powers rest with the Kwara State Auditor General who is empowered by law to carry out audits,” the statement said.
But speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, the special adviser communication to the governor, Alhaji Bashiru Adigun, said the PDP was only jittery, advising anyone involved in the alleged fraud to return the loot before it’s too late.
“They (PDP) are not sincere to themselves. The certificate of the company has not been withdrawn and the company is still registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
“If they have any problem with the company, they should sue them. Does their PDP position invalidate the findings of the audit firm?
“Anyway, the findings of the audit firm have been forwarded to the ministry of justice and they are looking at it to see what they can do about it. Anybody indicted will have the day in court,” Adigun added.
