The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party deepened on Thursday after the party’s National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, called for the prosecution of Senator Adolphus Wabara, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki and others over alleged impersonation.
Speaking at a press conference at the PDP national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, Anyanwu said petitions had already been submitted to the Police and the Department of State Services (DSS).
He said those invited by security agencies are linked to the controversial meeting held at the Shehu Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, where a purported interim National Working Committee (NWC) was announced.
“We have written to the Police and DSS on the issue of impersonation. Adolphus Wabara, Kabiru Turaki and others involved have been invited, and we expect prosecution after investigations,” he said.
Anyanwu also dismissed claims of confusion over the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the recent Supreme Court judgment on the party’s leadership dispute.
He insisted that the apex court judgment was clear and that the current NWC remained the only recognised leadership of the party.
“The CTC is officially out from the Supreme Court. INEC has verified the current NWC. There is only one PDP today,” he said.
